Action Items
- Commissioners voted to support two bills: Assembly Bill (AB) 96 (Jackson) and AB 1540 (González); and oppose the proposed budget cut to the statewide Medi-Cal Mobile Crisis Benefit.
- Commissioners voted to revert the temporary Client, Family, and Community Inclusion, Lived Experience, and Diversity (CFC) Advisory Committee back to two separate committees: the Client and Family Leadership Committee (CFLC) and the Cultural and Linguistic Competency Committee (CLCC).
- Approved the Intent to Award for the Transition Age Youth Advocacy Contract for Pro Youth.
- Approved Kern County’s Innovation Proposal for an Early Psychosis Healthcare Network.
Ongoing Discussions
- The Commission received a presentation on California’s Crisis Continuum, followed by a discussion on the Commission’s next priorities for the Mental Health Wellness Act (MHWA) grant funds. The Program Advisory Committee will continue discussions regarding MHWA funding for FY 26/27.
- Executive Director Brenda Grealish and Eric Douglas and Karin Bloomer of Leading Resources, Inc. led Commissioners through a presentation on progress made to update the Commission’s 2024-2027 Strategic Plan to ensure alignment with the Behavioral Health Services Act. Commissioner feedback from this presentation will be addressed during the Strategic Plan Advisory Committee meeting on April 27, with an expectation that updates will be ready to present to the full Commission during the May 28 meeting.
- Commissioners received an overview of the Commission’s BHSA data responsibilities, current data capabilities, and a preview of two new dashboards: Population Behavioral Health Measures and Educational Characteristics of Youth Receiving MHSA Funds. The dashboards will be released after review by agency partners, the public, and Commissioners.
